Hi, good day to everyone.

In 2008 I petition my wife now to come to the US using K1 visa.

Now, I am trying to fill up a affidavit of support for her brother who is coming to the US to study, I don't need to support financially because he just need to further his study and is now in the peak of his success. We just thought that it might help if we sign a affidavit of support. Will there be an advantage? What are the chances for those who are applying for student visa?

Now my next question, on the form, in questions 9 and 10, I am asked if I have previously submitted affidavit of support or visa petition, do I have to write my petition before for my wife, who was my fiance before. Do I use her maiden name?

Hoping to find clarification here.

Thanks,

Jeff

IMHO, F1 student is non-immigrant category so they just prove that they can financially afford their study expenses, and they will return to their country after finishing school. Your affidavit of support might help to get him admitted to the school but I don't think it is an advantage for visa interview. The IO might doubt his intention to travel US for his study.
