Anyone Self-Employed and Passed the Interview at the US Embassy in Manila?

I'm writing this in The Philippines section so I know exactly what the US Embassy in Manila wants from petitioners who are Self-Employed.

I currently have the following for my I-134:

I-134 Form filled out

2008, 2009, and 2010 IRS tax transcripts

2008, 2009, and 2010 Income tax returns (Form 1040 with Schedule C)

Personal Checking/Savings account bank statements for the entire 2011 year

Warranty Deed, Appraisal, Property tax bill, and Mortgage Satisfaction for a land I own free and clear.

I'm still sort of confused with the Employment letter, obviously I'm self employed... so do I make a "self-employment" letter stating that I'm currently self employed and have been self employed for X years, my projected/current income for 2011, my type of work/business is xxx, etc.???

Will all this be enough???

I am not currently LLC'ed or Incoporated and I currently operate as a sole proprietorship. I do plan to LLC and have done the paperwork, but do not plan to submit it until after I file my 2011 income tax.

That looks like more than enough, ASSUMING you make enough money. All the evidence in the world is not enough if you do not have sufficient income.

As well, you should include a declaration that the enclosed documents are true and correct, and attesting to other pertinent facts such as that you are self employed, etc.

The issues is how much are your worth and can you afford to be a sponsor. The evidence simply needs to support the requirements.

I did it as a sole proprietor. All I sent were photocopies my completed returns with all attachments for the last three years. Nothing else. I did the same for AOS. For ROC and Naturalization, we sent Tax Transcripts of our joint returns.

I make over the 125% poverty guidelines to put me a few thousands, some what comfortably over. I said some what comfortably because I'm assuming they will scrutinize self employed people more. That's why I added my personal checking and savings account statements totaling a little over $15,000. Land I own that is paid/free and clear appraised at $25,000. Just in case they wanted more income.

I'm assuming my tax transcripts and ITRs will be enough to attest that I'm self employed. I will probably include a self-employment letter on a business letterhead with my business license and builder's license in case they want more evidence as well.

HEH! I guess I'm going over board then! My cousin who went thru the K1 visa process a few years ago and who's fiance( now husband) was in the same situation as I am with being self-employed and other things told me that I had more than enough and a few people I know stated that I was making the process harder than it suppose to be... but i guess I want to be safe than sorry, so I tend to over prepare for things unexpected.

i am also self-employed, incorporated, but i dont think that matters. i had the one year of taxes for the corp and myself, copy of real estate taxes, checking account and mortgage info, copies of auto titles that i own, and the I-134. i also have monthly rental income which is not considered earned income so it goes on a different line on your income tax statements. i think that confused the IO so we got the 221g. i had to submit a hand written piece of paper saying how much i made every month and then everything was ok. but, heck, i cant even understand my tax papers

My husband is self-employed and we never had any problem. Passed and got the visa.

Did your husband had an employment letter or a letter stating that he was self-employed?

nope. No letter at all.

We submitted a letter from the bank. Bank statement for a whole year. Tax Return 2008-2010. We didn't even submit a IRS transcript. NO RFE in NVC and I was never asked for IRS transcript in USEM but I have it with me though just in case.

Likewise here. Im incorporated so I sent brief letter explaining my cash flow, future earnings and thinking it also serves as employment letter signed and dated, last 3 personal and corporate bank statements, account docs showing when they were opened and shows me as president, State article of incorporation, snapshot of what I pay myself weekly via bank transfer etc. last 3 CPa reports signed by accountant. Most recent payroll withholding for quarter. Last years 1040, 1099 and schedule C prior to incorporating. Guess i'll see on nov 25th but dont know what else they could want.

Yep, I'm self employed and did it several months ago...in some ways, it's easier...no letters or anything...the biggie is the complete tax transcripts and clearing the minimum level with a bit of room to spare.

I only had 1 year self-employed too...but had sufficient liquid assets to sponsor with no income.

Yeah OP, relax, you have more than enough.

I see your point, too much might be better than too little

Heh, I'm trying to relax. Hopefully I can finish all my paperwork by tomorrow and I can put this aside so I don't need to worry about it until the interview.
