Hello,

I’ve read up on as many guides as I could find and I’m just more confused than before. My wife and I are waiting for our NVC step of our cr-1 petition and we wanted to get a just start on this part. The part I am confused is the AOS part of the NVC the most. I am college student and the last and only time I worked in my life was in Nov-Dec 2003 for seasonal work. Needless to say we will need a joint sponsor for our cr-1. My parents will be the joint sponsors for our cr-1. I’ve posted about this before but I am still confused. I will start by asking what forms and documents do I need to fill and submit? And what forms and documents will my parents need to fill and submit?

I have a good grasp as to what I need and that is the I-864 and I don’t realistically have any employment history to add. I am mostly confused to what my parents need to do and what forms they need to fill and what document they need to have me submit for the AOS.

Thank you for any help.

You as petitioner are requires to submit an I-864 and all supporting documentation. A joint sponsor would also submit an I-864 with all the supporting documentation. Read and follow the instructions and you should be fine.

Thank you for the link I think I found what I needed.

I need to fill out the I-864 and state I am unemployed and not required to fill federal income taxes.

My parents are married and file joint Federal income tax returns so I am guessing they will each fill the

I-864A form. My mom just retired from her job and my dad is retired, however, he is back working at the same company as an incidental employee.

If I’m wrong please comment or could improve what I have listed please inform me. Thank you.

One parent completes an I-864, the other an I-864A

Thank you. For the help. My question now is which one of my parents does I-864 and which parent will do the I-864A? My mom is retired and no longer earning and income. My dad as I noted before is retired and working as an incidental employee. My dad is also receiving his pension as part of his income. Also, from what I understand all they will need to add is their last 3 years of Federal tax returns and proof of citizenship. Think you for any help.

From what you say, only Dad needs to do the 864.
