Hi,

This is my first post, thanks to those responsible for this site!

I have a petition for a K-1 visa which is at the embassy in France right now. We have recieved packet 3, and I'm on the verge of sending the affidavit of support to my fiancee. I noticed that the sample letter for packet 4 on this sight, that the embassy requests past tax returns.

Here is my problem: in 2008, 2009, and 2010, I was self employed, and my adjusted gross income for 2009 and 2010 is under the required 125% of the poverty line (it was around $14,500 for each of those years). 2008 was fine, with an adjusted gross of $36,000.

For all of 2011, I have been a full time employee with a salary of about $36,000 again. I have pay stubs and a letter from my employer verifying that.

Should I be worried about getting a co-sponsor because 2009 and 2010 were bad years for me?

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me!

Jeff

Your last year of work record will be good enough. SO get a letter from employer stating yearly salary and include pay stubs, You are good to go and no they will go on what you are doing now not your previous tax returns but include a letter from you explaining your situation.
