Dear Friends,

My fiancé (Australian) and I had received word (email) that on June 27, 2011 a notice was mailed to me that our I129F Petition for Fiance(e) has been approved. According to the Embassy of the United States (Canberra) website, it states that "A further three to six months should be allowed for the processing of the visa application once it is received by the Embassy or Consulate." I'm growing more and more anxious/worried that we have not received Packet 3 yet as it appears on some posts here, that others had gotten theirs just weeks after their approval. Can someone please tell me what your experience has been with this? I would appreciate absolutely anything you can share.

Kindest regards,

Calesa

Its on my timeline, but we heard of our NOA2 for the petition on the 17th October and it was with NVC within the week then pretty speedily headed off to the consulate. I don't know how it works for Canberra though, but this was our experience. Is it a K1 visa you have applied for? If it is is it maybe not just the NOA1 you have to hand there and are you still waiting on them sending to NVC? Otherwise yes, it does seem a long wait but perhaps it does differ country to country. If you're uncertain I'd place a call to them to see precisely what stage you are at. Best of luck with your journey :)

hei there, Calesa. Welcome to VJ!

Try calling NVC(National Visa Center): (603) 334-0700, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time).

Say you received a notice through email of an approved i-129f petition in June but have not heard anything since. Ask if they have a record of it receiving it from USCIS or shipping it to the embassy. They probably will need your EAC/WAC# (it's on your approval notice).

Yes you need to ring the NVC and find out what has happened to your file and get a case number. June and it is now October and you were not worried before this? Get on this now you should have had interview and all by now.

wow we roughly have simalar time lines but yours is stuck at NVC , Do u have a case number yet? you need to call them!

mine was there for a month and then they forwarded it to Sydney after receiving NOa2 you papers will expire 4 months after so your pushing that too.

then you will have to request for a extention. The paper work will go to Sydney not camberra, sydney is the only consulate in AUs that processes Fiance Visas.

THat is were u will have your interveiw. Good luck. Have you had your medical and got packet 3 ready anyways?

Thanks so much for your input. I have no idea how he goes about getting his medical and no idea what is involved in packet 3...so, no to both of those questions. I do have a case number and am drafting an email to the consulate requesting a possible resend of this packet, assuming it was sent already. I never imagined it would go like this. I took for granted what information was given to me through various websites, so I figured I should be patient and wait. But, after coming across this website and viewing similar topics, I became worried. I'm grateful for the information you and others have shared.

Can you please refer me to more information regarding the medical and what is needed in packet 3?

Thanks kindly.

Your Paul needs to read up on the US consulate site and get packet 3 info himself. It gives you all the info right there like medical police report the lot. He is now going to be delayed if he has not done any of this. You will need to get an extension to be able to get all the documents together to send in for interview stage.

Have a look at this:

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Australia&cty=Sydney

Some of the information on the official Canberra embassy website you gave is outdated, so beware (for example the 3-6 month timeframe is not accurate for K-1 visa applications).

You need to find out what happened to your application right away. It should have arrived at the Sydney consultate sometime in July, and they should have notified your fiance and sent the packet 3 instructions very soon after it arrived. Something is very wrong here. Start by calling the NVC as instructed above, as once your NOA2 (your fiance petition approval) gets sent to you, your application goes to the NVC, gets a new case number (it will begin with SYD2011), and then gets sent on to the consulate. The NVC will be able to give you the new case number, and when it was sent onwards, and from there your fiance needs to contact the Sydney consulate and find out if they have it. Good luck.

Some of the information on that link is also out of date. Once you find out the consulate has your application, if you or he has any specific questions about the visa process in Australia you can try looking through/asking questions on the Australia/NZ forum - lots of people there who have just gone through it (myself included!).

I hope you find out what happened to the application - keep us posted.

Howdy All! Just wanted to keep you posted with what has transpired and perhaps offer some advice if necessary.

Paul called Immigrant and Non Immigrant Visa Enquires at 1902-941-641, speaking to a consultant ($3/min) and told that they dont handle fiance(e) visa enquiries and would need to email sydneyiv@state.gov with the case file. Luckily, he had done that (emailed) the day before; however, we still haven't gotten a response.

Ignorance is somewhat bliss. I was so much more at ease when I had zero clue as to what to expect. Now, after reading these posts, I'm absolutely terrified if the time we've invested thus far has been to no avail. :crying:

The SydneyIV email is the correct one to use, usually they take a day or two to reply but they will reply.

When you say you gave them the case file number are you using the one on the NOA (the approval notice) that begins with EAC or WAC, or the SYD2011 case file number from the NVC? The Sydney consulate will want to know the SYD2011 number. However one would think that the name of the applicant would be enough.
