K1 petition approval usually expires 4 months after it is approved. When was the petition approved , what consulate are you talking about ? Many times they will let it expire and tell you that you can refile.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You are Half right. The K-1 petition initially is approved for 4 months. and you are correct I would assume it depends on the Consulate. My Fiancees dad got cancer just about as we were approved. We had to put the process on hold.I Emailed the US Embassy in Manila and explained the situation. The Embassy Emailed right back and told me that the Embassy(Manila)" ROUTINELY " Revalidate K-1 Petitions for an addtional 4 Months. they told me they entered that information in their system about my request. So no need to worry they told me. her dad is ok and we are about to schedule Interview. BUT....that is US Embassy Manila.
