I mailed the packet on Oct 6 and was recieved next day at noon friday. I had the Columbus day weekend to get through and now its Friday October 14. Check not cashed yet and no text or email. With the holidays coming up, Am I just unfortunate it may take longer? I do plan to keep frequent visits to my fiance no more than 2 months. I do have the benefit of working for a major airline. Yet its still hard to plan and trying to keep my girl from getting upset. I am in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago if anyone is near in same boat as me. As I put the copied packet together my mind keeps saying I forgot a signature. Last thing I need is an RFI. Besides communication, anything I can do to keep my fiance rest assured everything is good and I will be back ASAP

Congrats and welcome to the club.

You should get an email (if you signed up for that) any time now and the hardcopy NOA-1 in the mail most likely by the middle of next week.

You can help your woman by getting her involved in the process. If she has internet access, lead her to VJ where she can learn about the process and see all that is involved.

You are very fortunate to be able to visit so frequently. Use this time that you're waiting for your NOA-2 to start gathering documents you'll need at the time of the interview.

Best of luck to you...

And P.S. You just began your wait, so find ways to deal with it... Get the house ready for your fiance, paint the place (get her involved in making decisions about your home, etc...).

You can not be consumed by the waiting proves or you'll go crazy. Keep living you rlife, stay in touch with your fiance and find things to keep you busy!

Bret,

We are definately on the same time frame I sent my packet out on the 6th it arrived on the 11th but still no cashed check. Hopefully, they will cash the check soon, so we at least know we are in the system. I have the same worries, altho the way i understand it they mainly just deposit the check and then sort out if the packet gets sent off to California or Vermont they dont go thru it there. Thats the way i understood the process, I could be wrong. I wish us both luck on the beginning of all this :)

That's the process. Send it to the lockbox in TX and they forward the petition to the applicable service center based upon where you live.

Thank you all. When I first started I am lucky to find this community. I was feeling overwhelmed. I did many of your suggestions. I started an email and account for this site for her. trying to find a solution to daily communication. She uses an internet cafe and wimax does not work well in Tagum. Texting for me is reasonable but not there for her to send messages.

Hey Bret, I agree with one of the other posters, you just started journey. Let your fiancee know this is not a speedy process, it is way too early for her to get upset. Once she starts to share the account she can make some VJ friends (Pinay and non-Pinay) and get more familiar with the process.

Best wishes.
