I submitted i-129F for my fiancee last week and this week I received i-797C Notice of Action with case number this week. Is it the NOA1? Does that mean my NOA2 step has started? Please help. Thanks

Yes that is NOA1. If you haven't already, you can now go to the USCIS website and set up the alerts for your case. You can add email and/or text alerts and then anytime there is an update you will be notified (not foolproof by any means).

A bit of advice if I may. This step can make you crazy and you will want to check the website every day to see if something new has happened and/or call USCIS after a few weeks or a couple of months. Don't do it as you will just get frustrated. Set a reminder in your calendar for about 4 1/2 months from now and try not to worry about NOA2 as much as possible. It is a maddeningly slow process and in about 3 months you'll be climbing the walls with frustration if you don't. If you just can't resist, try to check the website once a week or so. In the meantime, read up on the next step of the process and start gathering the documents you needed. Saving check stubs, bank statements, tax transcripts, chat logs, emails etc.

I don't think I've seen this explained so accurately.

(Sometimes the status never moves, even right through to approval and long after - so don't let it worry you)

Hang in there; It takes time; look at my time frames; and its one of the shortest;

So expect accordingly; it may take more time..

23rd May - filed 129f

1st Aug - Request for Evidence

26th Aug - Approved

7th Sept - NVC Case number

21st Sept - Chennai, India Consulate fixed interview on 18th October.
