Hello, I finally sent in all the paperwork and I applied for the Advanced Parole document so that my wife can travel with us to visit family in Mexico for Thanksgiving and then again for Christmas. I sent in the I-130, the I-485 (including the I-693 and I-864), and the I-131 on 9/17/11, received the bio-metrics notice with an appointment on 10/24 (we did a walk-in on 9/30), and I haven't gotten any RFE's (yet, fingers crossed).

My question is pretty simple, how will we get the advanced parole??? I'm hoping I can get it before Thanksgiving. Is it just a piece of paper that will arrive in the mail? Do we have to go somewhere to pick it up? I didn't apply for the EAD card, so I'm assuming it's separate. Any help would be appreciated...

It takes 2-3 months to get the AP, so if you sent it in at the end of September, you probably won't make it for Thanksgiving. Christmas, you have a decent chance, but not for sure. It is mailed to you.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
