Hello VJers

I have just received the letter from the London Embassy detailing that they have received the approved petition for K1 visa...

It has a list of forms, etc to fill in...

I want to know if I should go ahead and pay the $350 now before sending the forms?

Also, there are a couple of forms which are online, do I need to print those as well? and do I pay the fee before submitting online forms?

And also, the police check...do you have to go through the website listed on the embassy website?

Please give me some advice, i'm feeling very overwhelmed.

Pay the $350 when you get your appointment letter - packet 4

You fill out all the forms that it says on the letter and mail them to the embassy include a cover letter stating what is in the package.

-DS-230 part 1 (you take part 2 to your interview)

- 2 x DS-156

- DS-156k

- 2 x DS-157

Then once you are ready for the interview you can send the DS-2001

You can find the forms on the US embassy website or just on google, just be careful to check they're the up to date version - the DS-156 you have to fill in through the embassy website and then click finish (or something like that I can't remember) and that sends a kind of e-copy to the embassy but still print off 2 or 3 copies, one to mail and at least one for your own records.

You send no supporting documents like birth certificates or passport photos - JUST THE PAPERS!

You get the police certificate through ACPO, you can just print off the paper work, fill it in and mail it off. Can't remember how long it takes, mine too a bit longer because of all the easter bank holidays.

Have you done the medical yet??

Don't send the DS-2001 off till you are 100% ready for the interview.

This is what I did and it all worked and went smoothly for me, hope it helps.

No

Fill in online and print then mail. No don't pay first

Yes ACPO. Read the form. Requires photos and somebody to sign the back. Get that done now because you need the police certificate before your medical exam.

-DS-230 part 1 (you take part 2 to your interview)

A K1 never does Part 2. That is for spouse visas among others.

You don't take it to the interview. You only fill out form DS-230, Part 1 (that's page 1&2 of the four page form).

the DS-156 you have to fill in through the embassy website and then click finish (or something like that I can't remember) and that sends a kind of e-copy to the embassy

It does NOT transmit to the embassy. It generates a bar coded last page that is a summary of the information you filled in. It does not submit anything electronically. You print and mail.
