hello guys i got heard that the k1 petition took for one year to be expiraed starting from the day u file in the petition like for me i filed on feb 15th so according from what i got to know it will be expired until feb 15th from 2012 is this true guys please anyone expereinced in this would help me to know if this is true thank you guys for advance

No.

The expiration of the approved petition has nothing to do with when you filed the I-129f.

The approved petition expires 4 months after the approval date. It can be extended by contacting the consulate you will be using and letting them know you wish to extend it. I do not know if there are any limits to extensions at the consulate you are using, it is consulate specific. Some consulates limit the extensions to 1 year after the initial 4 month period.

It is 4 months, extensions are consulate specific. Be careful read the instructions and see the USCIS site for further details.
