Hi all,

I have been with my wife to the embassy two times, the first time they requested more documentation.

The second time we brought it with, and they requested another I-864 from me, my 1040, and my W2. I sent them in via Cargo Expreso (what the embassy asks for).

At the end of the second interview my wife was given the paper that says "Congratulations" referring to the end of the visa process, but it was a mistake and they said as soon as we sent in the remaining documents the passport would be sent out.

2 weeks after sending the final documents needed, and 1 week after E-mailing the embassy, I received an email saying (more or less):

-The case is ineligible for a visa due to "Section 221g of the Immigration and Nationality Law of the United States (INA)"

-That my wife needed to send in information that was never received (although they never requested any type of documents from her)

It has been about a year and a half since we started the process, and as many of you have experienced it`s quite difficult. Does anyone have experiences like this? What could be done now? I feel the embassy is impossible to work with, especially because we were assured by the employee reviewing our case that once I sent in the documents the passport would be mailed out. Maybe the person who wrote me the E-mail is not informed about this. Is it possible to do a congressional inquiry? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Definitely contact your Congressman for assistance, si man.

If your Congressman's office is nonresponsive, contact one of your U.S. Senators. If that Senator is nonresponsive, contact the other one.

If all else fails, send an e-mail to the embassy with "Section Chief, IV Unit" in the subject line. If you know the guy's name, put that in the subject line.

A lot of us got hosed in Ecuador like this. You can overcome it, si man.
