Hi everyone I'm a newbie here.

I had my biometrics appt today. It went well. I'm adjusting from a tourist visa which is now expired. I married my us citizen spouse this pass august. We have a 14month old daughter together.

I'm bringing pictures, daughters birth certificate, lease from 2009, lease renewal from 2010 and 2011, bills in both are names, bank checking account joint acct, and affidavits frOm friends. I think we have enough to show a Bono fide marriage but my concern is that my husband was married before I'm his third marriage and one of his ex spouses he bought over here through immigration process from another country, his birth country and she has her green card. He wasn't paid to marry her he was actually in love with her but when he met me didn't want her anymore. He did divorce her last year. I'm just wondering if immigration will hold that against him and won't believe are marriage is real.

Any advise will be appreciated.

If her papers were given to her conditionally, and it's been less than 2 years that they were married they will most likely take her residency away. I don't know if that will affect him

It will probably be a red flag, both because the divorce is recent and because he sponsored her (recently, it sounds like?) for a green card. That doesn't mean you will just be denied, but they will be aware of it and will be scrutinizing you extra hard as a result.

This is not true if the marriage was entered into in good faith. The former spouse can request a waiver and remove conditions anyway so long as they can prove the marriage was not for fraudulent purposes and simply didn't work out. Though it sounds like she may have a 10-year green card by now anyway.

By the way, when you did fingerprints did you have to do it again for the actual GC? Or do the fingerprints apply to all documents like I 765 and I 485?

My husband adjusted status from a B2 so if there are fingerprint involved in a K-1 before arriving in America, I don't know anything about that. But the fingerprinting that takes place about 2 months after filing AOS - the biometrics appointment - covers everything. You just do it the one time (unless they get an unclear read or something).

The immigration people do not like it if a US citizen works as an immigration portal. Be prepared that they will scrutinize your relationship very closely, not because of you, but because of your spouse.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

President Teddy Roosevelt on Columbus Day 1915
