I have been away in the United States for 3 months and when I arrived home I had received my NOA2, on the notice it mentions that I must have my interview and my visa within the 4 month validity of my petition. The date on the notice is 24/05/2011, meaning I somehow have to have all forms sent in and get my visa within 17 days from now. That is obviously not possible, so my question is can I get an extension? It would be terrible if I had to start over with this and pay all those fees again.

Petition sent: 12/10/2010

Arrived at service center: 12/14/2010

First NOA: 12/16/2010

Touched: 12/31/2010

Second NOA: 05/24/2011

I imagine you could email the embassy and ask for an extension. You could send in your forms express delivery and they might process them within 17 days. I think if you explain the situation though they may go easy on you.

The petitioner should have received NOA2 to start with and the consulate will extend it but hey the sooner you send off packet 3 papers the sooner you get interview
