Got NOA from i-130

We sent i-129F and stated in the cover letter that it is for K3 visa

Questions:

Will i still be able to change to CR1 later?

Will they ask me if i want to go the CR1 route?

What do you guys think is the better option? obviously everyone wants to be reunited sooner than later.

From the past year or so, the K-3 is administratively dead. What has been happening is when the I-129 and I-130 arrive at NVC, the I-129 is closed and the I-130 will go forward. Technically you don't pick the visa type you apply for. you submit the form I-129/I-130 etc and NVC decides which visa is most appropriate for your case. Nothing to worry about at this point. When you get to the NVC, you will call to get your case number and you can ask at that time.

It depends on which gets approved first/ received at NVC. If I-130 approval gets to NVC first, the K3 gets administratively closed but if I-129F gets to NVC first, then it will get sent to the consulate for further processing.

I'll answer your second question first, no.

Now to your fist question, as Casprd and NavyK have pointed out, if the two petitions reach the NVC at the same time or if the I-130 arrives first, the K3 will be administratively closed. If the I-129F arrives first, it is assigned a case number and sent to the Embassy or Consulate based on where your spouse lives in India.

Now, if you happen to have a K3 in play but want the CR-1 instead, ignore all correspondence from the Embassy/Consulate regarding the K3 and follow all processing steps at the NVC for the CR-1. The NVC will process the file and ultimately schedule a CR-1 interview at the Embassy/Consulate as well as forward that file.
