Hello,

Getting ready to fill out the I-130 form and have a couple of questions. I apologize if they may seem silly, but I just want to fill it out right. Thanks in advance for any help.

1. I haven't changed any documents to reflect my married name. Will that be a problem? Can I do that @ a different time?

2. Question #17 - List husband/wife and all children of your relative - do I list me and his daughter?

3. Part F Signature of person preparing this form, if other than the petitioner - no one other than me will be preparing the form. Do I leave it blank or put NA? - I ask because I've read that we shouldn't leave anything blank.

5/14/2012 - IV bill received & paid

5/14/2012 - IV package sent

5/15/2012 - IV bill shows as PAID

5/15/2012 - IV package delivered to NVC

5/23/2012 - Case complete

6/01/2012 - Interview date assigned for ----> July 23rd

7/09/2012 - Medical

7/23/2012 - Interview -----> Approved

1. Not a problem at this stage. You can get some of those changed by NVC process time - like Pay Stub reflecting your status as married, if that shows up in the pay stub like mine.

2. Yes, list yourself and his daughter

3. Yes, use N/A - don't leave anything blank.

01/08/13 - Approved and GC is order for production on 1/8/14

09/12/13 - Case transferred to CSC. NOA2 received on 09/18/13

08/30/13 - Biometrics Done - No walk ins allowed at this LSC (received on 8/16/13).

08/05/13 - NOA1 (received on 08/10/13)

08/01/13 - Mailed I-751 (received on 8/2/13 - check cashed on 8/5/13)

12/28/11 - Received SSN (applied on 12/20/11, as we didn't get based on DS-230 options)
11/28/11 - Received Green Card (Expires on 10/30/13) - Welcome Letter on 11/17/11
10/30/11 - POE - Houston, TX

Chennai Consulate (40 days)
10/28/11 - Received Visa papers and Passport at VFS
10/25/11 - Interview Cleared Successfully (Spouse was not allowed in)

NVC: (90 days from NOA2 to Consulate)
08/31/11 - Case Completed (Interview 10/25/11) - Received at Chennai on 09/19/11
07/22/11 - NVC Case Number

USCIS: (92 days)

6/21/11 - NOA2 (NOA1 on 3/25/11) - took a month to get to NVC
3/21/11 - I-130 sent to USCIS Lockbox, Chicago.

I left that section blank and did not have any problems. I usually say don't leave anything blank either, however, for that one and only section, leaving it blank is not an issue.

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

I left that section blank and did not have any problems. I usually say don't leave anything blank either, however, for that one and only section, leaving it blank is not an issue.

I recommend using N/A. You never know how the USCIS reviewer that reviews your case thinks.

I filled it with N/A and had no issues either.

What Navy K said about changing the pay stub info...great idea. I never thought of that but I definitely do that since I am at the NVC process myself.

BTW.....no question is stupid. We all started not knowing anything about this. ;)

You are welcome...It's so confusing at the beginning...but this website is great check http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1 the guide tells you pretty much everything you would need to send the package. A was referred to this website by a friend who told me that in most cases paying a lawyer is a waste of money. Good luck with everything!!
