IV PACKET DOCUMENTS - CERTIFIED COPIES

I am super paranoid about sending anythign original to the NVC with our IV packet. My question is...

Our marriage certificate is in a foreign language, however we did have it certified, translated, notarized, and appostilled. How can we get a certified copy in the USA that the NVC will accept. Will they accept just a copy of the marriage certificate (Including translation appostille ets)with each page notarized as being a "True and accurate copy of the original"? Or is this something that needs to be done at the courthouse. I know for county marriage license copies here we must go to courthouse but foreign certificate I think they will not be able to do anything with at courthouse???

You will have to get an original marriage certificate and submit that with the translation.

In our case, we first tried to submit a copy of the original marriage certificate to the NVC with the translation but had that rejected, saying the original document is needed.

So we had to get a second 'original' marriage certificate and submit that.

The translation does not need to be certified or notarized (my wife did it herself) but next to her signature we had to put a statement certifying that the translation is a true, exact, and complete translation of the original foreign-language document. But that can be done without a notary or other third party.

In any case, the original documents submitted to the NVC get forwarded to the embassy, where you get them back after the interview is done...

My question is in order to get a certified copy here in the USA of my Georgian marriage certificate can I just have a notary to authenticate them as true accurate copies or does this need to be done through the courts somehow?

The certified copies are generally issued by the original authority that issued the original. I am not sure if any authority in US does such certfication of foreign marraige certificates.
