I think I have memories for receiving that card years ago and I thought they were trying to recruit me in the army and I threw it away with the junk mail. It was back in 2005.

Yes I have filled up the Selective Service Number and printed the online page proving it. I just don't know if it's sufficient or they need something certified... May be they will not ask me about it.. but I don't want any delay if they do..How many days do you think it will take if I call them tomorrow?

The letter i received for my interview was asking for letter from SSS show my status. Usually takes 30 days, but i received it in less then 3 weeks. you can take the receipt with you if you didn't receive confirmation letter from SSS, you need to contact SSS to be in safe side, this forum will only provide you experiences based on other's experience and each one has different experiences. In my case, they asked me bring prove for my status, knowing that i enter to US after age 26 which means i am not eligible to register. so on the day of the interview, i gave the letter to the Office and she said she doesn't need it.

I called SSS yesterday and they told me it will take up to 30 days for the letter but before that they will send me some sort of a card. The customer service representative told me that it should be sufficient for USCIS and I also mentioned that I have submitted a copy of the web page confirming my registration and he said that it should be also sufficient. That's something so easy to check by entering the SSN and DOB. Hopefully the will not delay my case for something so simple since my interview will be in 2 weeks and I am not sure If I will get it in time....

Does the USCIS really want proof that you registered for Selective Service? A little out of date on this subject, was the legal guardian of two boys and had three of my own. All were in high school at the time, and failure to register was up to a $10,000 fine. Since they were all depended on me for their support, that $10,000 would have come out of my pocket. Made damn sure they were all registered.

Sure wanted proof we paid our income taxes, like the IRS are a bunch of idiots, they have a handful of our W-2"s and 1099's, if we didn't pay our taxes, couldn't even show up for the interview, would be in jail instead. Then proof my stepdaughter paid a $52.00 four year old traffic violation, said, why didn't you show your drivers' license, wouldn't have that if we didn't pay that fine.

Most ridiculous form of evidence they wanted from my wife was a completely worthless joint utility bill. Utility companies don't give a damn whose name is on that bill, they go after the property owners for unpaid amounts. We as landlords got stuck with bills like that when the renter left town, got stuck with a bunch of other stuff as well.

And why are guys just picked on for selective service, military makes no difference of sex anymore. Three of my stepdaughter's classmates joined the National Guard to get $25,000 for college. My army major that served two tours of duty over there and I talked her out of it, those three girls were shipped instantly to Texas for MP training, then off to Iraq. And are now playing hell trying to get their benefits!
