My wife if preparing for her interview in manila philippines.. we are both a little confused on part of it tho... the agency she is useing is telling her to get a CENOMAR..."CERT OF NO MARRIAGE". THE PREPARING FOR THE INTERVEIW DOC'S FROM THE EMBASSY STATES

"CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE RECORD (CENOMAR). If you have never been married, a CENOMAR (Singleness) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and printed on NSO security paper should be submitted. You may call the NSO Information Center at (632) 737-1111 to inquire about securing a CENOMAR or visit their web site at http://www.census.gov.ph."

"IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN MARRIED"

My question is we are married. so does she still need to show a CENOMAR and if so how would we get one being that she is married and it will show up in the NSO files....

Help need asap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is really a misnomer. What they are asking of you is essentially a CEMAR or certificate of marriage which you can get from NSO if you don't already have it.

You will fill up the CENOMAR form from NSO, and since your wife was already married then the result will be the other way around & that will be the certificate of marriage... or CEMAR... Same process the result will depends upon the real status of the filer :) hope that helps...

Make sure the CEMAR you have is the one issued by NSO. If you don't have that, then you need to get one.

I am really surprised that this was not explained to you by the agency you are using!headbonk.gif

I'm glad someone else made this point as I've seen others confused by this.

There are actually to different "proof of marriage" documents from NSO:

One is the NSO Marriage Certificate or as my wife calls it our Marriage Contract which is the document we both signed just on NSO security paper.

The CEMAR or Certificate of Marriage(s) is basically just a list of all recorded marriages for the subject. I would include previous marriages and annotations of foreign divorce/annulment if there are previous marriages. This is why it's sometimes asked for, to confirm the absence of or proper disposition of previous marriages. In cases with a child it would also show if the child was born out of wedlock which affects other requirements (travel consent & clearance).

Hi! A friend once told me that the embassy would really require you to get a CENOMAR even if you (the petitioner and the beneficiary) are married, aside from the Marriage Certificate (NSO) that you have had. If you want to secure a copy of CENOMAR and you are already married it will be called FORM "CRS-5" for married individuals that is equivalent to a CENOMAR.

Well, its not exactly a CENOMAR of course coz the content in there is/are the records of the marriage/s of your Filipina spouse. I think the US Embassy would need that to check previous marriages of your Filipino/Filipina partner (just in case she/he was married more than once) coz I think it would reflect in there the records of ALL marriage/s of that particular person.

I am also applying for IR-1 and happily married to my husband for 3 years now. But I would get CRS-5, the moment we will get our NOA-2.

I hope that helps. Or you may try calling the hotline of NSO for more details.

As has been stated many times in this [and many other] thread YES.

They are two different documents and they serve two different purposes.
