I-864 Co-Sponsor - Joint filer - Item 25

Though it is more confusing, it makes sense that my income needs to be my income and not including my spouse income just because I file jointly. I have no confusion with item 23 at all. It is only item 25 that threw me off a bit - I am leaning towards your view, as 23 and 25 needs to be similar.

Due to this confusion, I just dropped the idea of using my father as Co-sponsor - of course on your advise regarding my income.

23 and 25 do not need to be similar. Instead, they need to be factual for the individual. You could have worked only 9 months in 2010 at 120k a year and your 2010 income would be 90K. You could now have a salary of 130k and line 23 would be 130 while line 25 was 90k. It is what it is.

Current income only needs to match the 2010 income for self employed people.

I am sorry you got me wrong. I didn't mean same but similar - meaning the same logic of showing individual income in both 23 and 25. Thanks for the clarification.

I hope to hear from Anktic, so that we are all on the same page and no one is left confused in the process - our ultimate goal is to help each other and not get a RFE.

Nilu & Bhakti, so both aunt (I-864) and uncle (I-864A) joined as co-sponsors in your case.

This is not same as the response from Anktic or did he also use both joint filers as co-sponsors. Anktic, we appreciate if you could please confirm.

Yes, you can say that. But basically my aunt was the main co-sponsor & uncle played a role of a household member. I hope its not getting too confusing :(

That bold statement is very important to be left out.

So glad I read this before I take my aos to the post office.

Sorry Dave I hope that I haven't created more confusion for you or NavyK :(

I guess my information was not so helpful after all.

It was confusing before (till you clarified that your uncle filed I-864A) but now things look clearer. Sure appreciate your contribution.

See bold above. THAT is why what you did was correct. Employed people don't do it that way. Without knowing the actual circumstances, it's difficult to know the right thing to do. When incomes are separate, "individual" MY income can be stated and documented, thereby avoiding the I-864a from the household member. In your situation, you did the only thing that will work. This does NOT apply to the OP's situation where income is from separate sources.

Thanks for the clarification. I am glad that you asked me questions about my co-sponsor so that way if other people happen to run across this thread they will be able to get proper help on their co-sponsor.

Sorry about the confusion at first but I am glad that everything is cleared up now and it actually makes sense. Thanks to Pushbrk for your help also.
