Canada Spousal Visa procedure

Hi everyone! :)

I am a Filipina and will be marrying my Canadian boyfriend this December. We plan to tie the knot here in the Philippines (in my hometown). We both have searched far and wide here on the Internet and have found no definite answers to our questions.

Does anyone here know what my Canadian boyfriend needs to prepare (documents and etc) before coming over to marry me? And what documents do I need to prepare? We are really clueless to the procedures and we're thinking if anyone out here knows about this...? If you can provide a detailed list / procedure, the better :)

Also, how long would the process take before we can be together in Canada?

We are deciding between me getting a tourist visa so we can get married in Canada or getting married here in the Philippines when he comes over. But getting a tourist visa seems difficult with no 100% assurance of getting approved. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much! :)

Hi Scarlett! I made a little research for you....Hope this help. This is address to your Canadian boyfriend who needs to secure the documents. God bless!

"These are the documents required by the government of the Philippines in order to get married in the Philippines:

Your passport with at least 6 months validity and a valid Visa to enter the Philippines.

Certificate of no record of marriage, If applicable, proof that previous marriages have been legally dissolved.

When you arrive in the Philippines you will need to acquire a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry. This is a document you must obtain from the Canadian Embassy in Manila. Only after you have obtained this document can you get married in the Philippines. You may only obtain this document once you have arrived in the Philippines."-http://www.immigroup.com/InternationalMarriage/MarriageInPhilippines.aspx

Closing this topic, as it has to do with immigration to Canada. I left a duplicate open in the Canada forum for responses. Canada Immigration Question
