has anyone been to juarez for the k1 interview? was it dangerous? i read its one of the worlds dangerous cities?

It is dangerous however we just came thru Juarez with 2 kids & if you are smart & do some homework on where to stay...you will be safe.

It took us 9 days with the 2 children for K1 visa because children need a TB test that takes 3 days to develop under the injection site. We stayed at La Quinta Hotel, made the reservations online with this discount code HOMEDL to save money & they also have a free shuttle everywhere! Don't worry it is not too scary! We actually had some fun hanging by the pool...but the best was walking across the border to El Paso Texas. You will find many reviews here about juarez & I am happy to help with any questions when it comes time to get hotel & everything!

best wishes, Kim

It is a dangerous city, but if you stay in the area near the consulate, you should be fine. Many have gone through Juarez and were perfectly safe. Use the hotel provided travel to and from the medical and consulate. Go out in the day, and don't stray too far from the hotel/consulate area.

My fiancee and I just got back from Juarez last month. We found the area near the consulate to be very safe and enjoyed the hotel amenities and the mall near the consulate while we waited on all of our appointments. Lots of good restaurants around there too! I wrote a whole review on our experience and the safety here: My Review. Check it out and it may answer some of your questions and concerns. I have lots of pictures and video as well.
