Hey everyone,

My interview is only a week and a bit away now so I'd like to make sure I have everything I'll need. So far I've gathered:

  • Appointment letter
  • MRV receipt
  • Birth certificate & photocopy (with both parents name on it)
  • 2 US size passport photos (do I need 2 or 3?)
  • Deed poll & photocopy (changed surname when parents got divorced)
  • Passport and photocopy of main passport page just in case
  • Police certificate & photocopy
  • My bank statement just in case
  • Copy of vaccinations and medical results
  • Boarding pass from when I last visited my SO (just incase)

as for the I-134 here goes:

  • 2 original, signed i-134 forms
  • Letter from company
  • W2s from last year
  • Tax return from 2010 (notarised)
  • SO's bank statement saying he has $30,000 in savings
  • 5 Pay slips
  • More bank statements from Feb '11 onwards

My SO is still a full-time university student and has a part-time job that pays a little less than the federal poverty line but he will make up for it with his savings, which he inherited from his grandparents, and are his own personal funds to use how he pleases. I also have a notarised letter written by the grandmother proving this. The embassy isn't likely to question that money, right? That's the only thing I'm worried about.

Not long now!

JINGO JANGO!!!

YEAP........that list sounds pretty similar to mine.

I am kinda thinking whether I need to bring the (JUST IN CASE DOCUMENTS ) with me....I guess there's no harm in just bringing my whole compact folder...like you said...JUST IN CASE :)

It's kinda crazy how many times I have checked my list of things to bring..............I have been to the EMBASSY numerous times for my J-1 visas......so I know what to expect, BUT I'M STILL REALLY NERVOUS.......I guess it's just a big deal....the next phase of our lives. My interview is a week tomorrow..........can't wait :)

GOOD LUCK JINGO :)

I went to the embassy once for my J1 too so I sort of remember it. Not really nervous about the process itself, just the outcome!

Oh I forgot to ask, they don't allow big bags but whats the size limit again? I have a shoulder/messenger bag which would just fit my file and wallet, would that be fine do you think?

Good luck with yours MESV :)

You've got more than enough. Watch this video carefully and notice the bags in line and going in the door to get an idea of what people take in.

Don't take your DS-3025. You might accidently give it to them then you won't have it when you actually need it--for AOS. Knightsbridge gave that to you for your personal records. You don't have to prove you went to see your fiance either.

Two for us and I believe most everybody else says two also. You're going to need six more for AOS so if you find a good price, go for it! That's 2 AOS, 2 EAD, 2AP = 6. There's so many places around the Bond Street tube station and Gould's that the prices may be competitive. But you don't need another for your interview.

Also, my interview is at 8am (ouch) what time roughly shall I plan on being outside the embassy and lining up?

Thanks for the advice Nich-Nick, I'll probably take your K1 guide with me too since it's been living in my visa folder for months :)

British Spouse wrote a long review this week about the line and what time people started lining up because she arrived at 6:??. Find that post...may have been in the k1 forum. I saw it via the "Portals" page that isolates UK posts. Then you can pick your time based if you want to spend the wait outside from 6:30 for an hour+ or inside sitting for an extra hour because you didn't queue until 7:45. It's first come-first served so your appointment time doesn't mean alot if all the 10 o'clocks got in the line before you. The line builds for an hour until they open the doors, then moves quicker after they catch up from the initial rush. If you're leaving things at Gould's, then get there for 7:20 and go to the embassy as soon as you've finished with checking electricals.

Here, I found the post where BritishSpouse talked about the times.

Arrived bond street at about 6:00am, and got to embassy at 6:10am LOL !! So sat on a bench and read my metro. Saw two people queuing at 7:00am so decided to join them, one was there for a non immigrant VISA, the girl was there for an immigrant one. so we chatted a bit

At 7:30am they started letting us in, you go through security 4 at a time, and by the time we went in, the queue was about 60 people long, so i really would recommend queuing at 7am. I was seated with my number (I-902) By 7:45am.

The screens were still booting up at this point but they were announcing numbers over the intercom. By this time there were about 20 people in the room, mostly N numbers. At 8:00am I was called to window 14.

I guess only Londoners will know the answer to this, but can I take my Oyster card in or does it count as 'electronic'? Obviously without it I'd have no way of getting to the embassy.
