I married an illegal alien in 1987. Question 11 asks about filing this paperwork before and then asks for an explanation. I don't remember much about this situation anymore. It asks for an A#. I don't have that. We did have an interview and he did receive his green card. How should I answer these questions? I remember his name and about the year that we had the interview. I don't want to ruin Chris's chance to get here....(very sad)

That's good you remember his name. You say he did receive a green card? Did you file for a divorce? I'm confused.

I did file for divorce. I just don't remember all the information regarding the green card. I don't even know if we filled out a I-129 form???.....

I am not real sure if the question is referring to the I-129f or possibly the AOS as well. If you married the illegal alien inside the US, then you did not file an I-129f to adjust his status. I am not sure if his A# would be on your divorce degree but I would check. Maybe someone more salty than me should answer this for you. If you get no other help then ( I ) would check no, put his name and attach another paper explaining the details. Could be a future RFE, but hopefully someone else on this site can relate more to your situation and help you.

I think the answer would be "yes" as the question is not asking if you filed an I-129f before, but if you filed any kind of immigrant petition/application for a fiance OR a spouse.

On the attached sheet, give as much information as you can. So, at the least, best estimates of the dates of your marriage, immigrant application, divorce. His full name, and if possible his date of birth. I'm assuming you got married and then filed. Adjustment of status? Of course this was so long ago that the processes were probably a lot different. Include the outcome (he got his green card).

You will have to include your divorce paperwork anyway. Hopefully USCIS can use their own records to verify the information on your ex, and if you guys were married for a while after he got his green card then there shouldn't be any problems.

Your past should not effect this petition. Now, were you to marry Chris, then divorce and file for someone else, you'd probably be flagged... But right now you are not in such a situation :-)

Thank you. We have to include divorce decrees? I don't know if I have that one... :help::(

Yeah cuz you need to show that you are free to marry... See Part 5.D of the instructions: If either you or your fiancé(e) were married before, give copies of documents showing that each prior marriage was legally terminated.

You may have to inquire at the court house where you divorced.
