I have a good idea Our Petition is in Manila already. (timeline)

Last years AGI (2010 Taxes) was $17,864.00 which is short for 2 but I still recieved $9,000.00 in Workmans Comp Insurance. 2010 taxes for the AGI were Unemployment and cashing a $ 5,000.00 retirement policy.

Current Income for this year is $ 10,784.00 in Unemployment Compensation.

I'm a Union Painter and Got hired as a Paint Foreman and the rate of pay is $ 20.00 per hour Full Time/40 per week. So $800.00 a week. I start Monday morning.

I know to save Check stubs. But I'm afraid having only 4 or 5 weekly check stubs for Mav's Interview will not look good. Moreover, I would exspect work to slow down in November and Deffinately in December.

Should I Set a Interview date NOW? I Don't Know how the Manila Embassy will look at this.

My fiance was put into AP at the interview with a similar income history for me the last two years. Also got a job just before the interview and had about 3 months of pay stubs. They asked for more pay stubs and I sent that at the beginning of this month, I was also advised by a lawyer and a guy who works in the Iraq embassy to get a co sponsor.

I've read that Manila doesn't accept them but something in the 2nd packet clicked because she got her visa yesterday. Long story short you might get a co sponsor as your income level is tight even in a good year, but I don't know if they'll accept it. As for the interview who knows. It worked out for us eventually but you might want to schedule that interview later with more stubs just remember that you do have a deadline to schedule the interview once your approved to have one.

The simple truth is your financial history is not definitively over the minimum threshold, which puts Mav in a foggy area during the interview. If she goes in as-is, it's kind of like sending a one-legged man into a a$$-kicking contest.

Far too many times folks go into their interviews with their fingers crossed after waiting a significant amount of time for the appointment, and then are pink-slipped or denied. Which makes no sense, as they knew from the start they were not in good standing with the Affidavit of Support -- which is pretty clear in its requirements: you either yourself make enough money to satisfy it, or find someone that does.

The best and most certain scenario would be to secure a cosponsor immediately. Honestly, given your finances you should have sought that before you even submitted your petition. If you want Mav over here, it's the only *definite* way that doesn't involve a heavy dose of optimism.

Otherwise she stands a good chance of being turned right around with a request for a cosponsor anyway, which honestly is embarrassing, disappointing, and absolutely heart-breaking for a lady at the end of an already stressful situation that is pregnant with all sorts of excitement. Keep in mind, she is relying upon YOU to take care of things properly.

I sat there myself all day in the embassy watching K-1's come out utterly confused and in tears, many of which either didn't even have an I-134, or the USC simply thought they'd "take their chances."

I mean, unless you're from Manila it's often a long haul to even get to the embassy, much less to have it all deflate in your face and then have to make the trek back home in despair.

How someone could do that to the woman they supposedly love, I have no idea. None.

For me, the point is to do everything in your power to secure an approval. A good starting point with that is the cosponsor. Easier said than done in most cases, but that's just the nuts and bolts of the thing. If you don't make enough to definitely do it, then scramble for someone that does.

And then also make it very clear to Mav that your income here does not stretch anywhere near as far as it would in the Philippines. You know, a girl hears $20K USD a year and immediately thinks of $1M Pesos -- which is "rich" to them --, but here it's barely scraping by. That's another cruelty to perpetuate. I don't know if you sought a Filipina because you thought she wouldn't notice your low income, but they absolutely will. A move to U.S. is supposed to be an advancement, not a lateral transfer. So it's best they understand the circumstances from the start, particularly in the event the CO asks her any specific support questions.

That's the other thing I saw, Filipinas going in proudly telling us how her USC fiancé is "rich" and a "millionaire" in the United States, and then came out disheveled and crying saying that the CO told her he only makes $18K a year and doesn't meet the requirements.

That's just unnecessary. I'm not saying that's your case -- I don't know you guys -- but it was heart-wrenching to see.

Anyway, tough call without knowing your specifics -- i.e., assets, dependents, etc. Worst case is she goes home empty handed, and you have to look for a cosponsor anyway. Or you could send her in there to see what happens.

Good luck. Keep us posted on how it goes.

2010 was $ 17,864.00 Plus an additional $9,000.00 in workmens comp. So 2010 income is $ 26,864.00

With the new job I should make over $19,000.00 this year.

Tim.... 2010 was 17,864.Plus the 9,000 You had in workers comp. You have documentation for that? What they probably will look at is mostly current income although they will go off the 2010 ITR also. Also you have documentation on making that 19,000 this year? Am i making any sense? :bonk: In other words with the documentation of current income you should be fine! As far as making appt now? remember its only good for 4 Months unless USEM extend it. That you will have to decide! "GOOD LUCK"!!!:thumbs:
