Hi everyone!

I live in Mindanao part of the country, so that means I have to fly to get to Manila. I have 2 kids with me who are derivatives a K-2 visa. I have already booked my flights for October for the medical at St. Luke then proceed for interview at USEM after medical. I am bit worried now, seems I didn't plan well for it.

Here is my travel schedule:

Oct 12 (Wednesday)- flight to Manila arriving in the morning (Wednesday)

Oct 12 @1:00pm (Wednesday)-St. Luke to start my medical and so with my 2 kids (13 years old below)

Oct 13(Thursday) - continue with day 2 medical

Oct 14(Friday) - Hoping that St. Luke submits or forwards our medical results to USEM as needed for upcoming interview

Oct 15 & 16 (Sat & Sun) - Free day

Oct 17 or 18 - PREFERRED plan schedule for Interview at USEM - IF, the medical results are Ok for all of us.

Oct 19 - flight back home

Questions / Concerns:

1. Is the planned schedule going to work out?

2. I'm quite worried since I just read that Kids have to undergo Tuberculine Skin Test of which the results will come out after 48 to 72 hours. I thought medical would only take 2 days at all.

3. Is it possible that St. Luke can forward the results of our medical exam (IF PASSED RESULTS) before we get to our interview date / time on Oct 17 (Monday)? barely 1 working day after our medical though.....

4. Any idea if me and my kids will be interviewed together in same day / time or maybe separately different day or time?

I already bought my plane tickets since I got info earlier on this site that October is still pretty much available for interview. BUT, now I am just worried because of my planned schedules are just too close to my planned interview date.

Is there anyone here who recently went through same case as mine ? Please give some insights. Thanks !

Do I need to rebook our tickets ? I am sorry, I am quite lost in here. Hoping anyone with same experiences or knowledge on this case would help me out.

Thank you so much. I would really appreciate any comments and suggestions. God bless US ALL !

its true that kids 13 yo below will undergo tuberculin test and you will be back after 2 days for TST reading..and if it turns out positive, they will undergo xray and you will be back again for the result. as for us adults, we will undergo the usual physical exam..and the most conflicting part is the xray..if they found something suspicious on your xray, you will undergo on a 3 day sputum test which means you will go to st lukes 3 days in a row for collection of sputum. and after that there is also a culture test which means you will only get the results after 2 months..just like me, i have an interview on Aug 23, but it is now cancelled coz i have to undergo on a sputum test and culture test..if i were you, why dont you schedule your exam now so that if you will going do undergo on a sputum test, ou still have a lot of time before your interview..think about it. :innocent::thumbs:

Hi "babystef", thanks so much for your quick reply. Ideally, your suggestion is really great! but, I'm trying to hopefully save for travel cost since we are 3 going there. Flight cost is still a lot cheaper if we get bookings ahead. Another reason is that I may not be granted for another vacation leave at work...just too busy at my work at the moment and October might be a good time to get off. I have a friend also from Mindanao, who had medical and interview within 1 week all, and all was well for her. It might be not same with me though as I have kids who will apply for K-2. I'm quite positive with my would-be medical results at St. Luke (God's will) since annually I undergo comprehensive medical exam and there had been no problem at all, so far, just that I'm bit worried of time constraint of my kids since they have to undergo tuberculine skin test. But, worst scenario comes (in case medical results have problems), then we have to probably move our interview schedule later.

I'm not ready to leave the country as yet, still very busy at my work. This is another reason why I'm not having my medical that soon as I knew that medical results are valid only for 6 months. So I'm trying to plan well my schedule so when hopefully we are approved for visa (God's will), by the time I'm ready to leave the country (within 6 months after receiving visa) the medical results are still valid for the adjustment of status (AOS) later. We just wanna make sure that we maximize our resources since we know there would still be a lot of expenses later considering I'm not moving alone.

I would still appreciate more comments / suggestions. Hoping there are some members here who really experienced same case as mine (with kids). Thank you ! :)

can u explain to me how they do the sputum test?

A sputum sample is obtained by coughing deeply and expelling the material that comes from the lungs into a sterile cup. The sample is taken to a labarotory and placed in a medium under conditions that allow the organisms to grow. A positive culture may identify disease-producing organisms that may help diagnose bronchitis, tuberculosis, a lung abscess, or pneumonia. :)

Hello "Richie Rich", thank you for sharing your good news. Yeah, that's what I was thinking of to save travel expense. For now, I'm trying to rebook our flights to an earlier date that is Sunday. Hopefully, we wouldn't have medical problems as well, like your fiancee. God is so good. I think Oct 17 or 18 then will be good to schedule for Interview, right ? Then coming back home Oct 19. God's will, He knows best !
