Picking up Packet 3?

Our file is expected to arrive at the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania on Friday (YAY). My fiance is traveling up there next week for his medical check. Since he'll already be in the city, I'm thinking about emailing the Embassy to request that he pick up his Packet 3, instead of them mailing it, to ensure that he has the medical check form in hand at his appointment.

The TZ Embassy only does K-1 interviews once per month, which is why we're really trying to stay on top of this. If the mail happens to be delayed by just a day or two (which is common), he'll have to wait until September to interview. So, do you think it's feasible to email a request for him to pick up the Packet 3 in person? Can Embassies be accomodating?
