My wife had her interview on 7/6 in Guangzhou and everything was going well until the Officer asked her for her resume. She provided the Officer with the resumes in English and Chinese and after he saw it, he asked her if she had a more detailed resume with her. I thought her resumes were detailed enough but I guess it was not enough for the resume. Anyway, she received a blue slip requesting a more detailed resume with a list of all foreign countries she has traveled to and her strategic future work plan in the United States. She was asked to submit the resumes to GuangzhouIVAddInfo@state.gov.

Has anyone seen or encountered the same problem? My wife sent in the requested resumes last week but has not received any confirmation email. What are the next steps that I should expect?

Thanks for your help and input!

My fiancée received a blue slip at her interview in April, which requested a "detailed" resume from both her and myself. We compiled the resumes into a Pdf file and sent them to the same Guangzhou e-mail address as you described.

After a about a week from the time I sent the resumes, I used Guangzhou's website to ask if they received the resumes, hoping to get some information on how long the process would take. They e-mailed back and said they received the resumes and that they would send my fiancée a letter when they had finished the administrative review.

She received a letter approximately 1 month later to go back to Guangzhou and get her visa. She did and everything went well.

We never knew why they needed both our resumes and it was difficult wondering how long we would be in administrative review, but eventually they approved the visa.

I would go ahead and e-mail them using the Guangzhou website to make sure they received your resume and to have peace of mind.

Good luck

sometimes a resume is asked for if the visa applicant

has some work background at a nuclear facility,

or a chemical facility

or even a wastewater treatment plant.

there's other categories, as well.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Yeah, my wife has an undergrad and masters in electrical engineering, specializing in communications and signal processing. I assume her major is what caused the "detailed resume". She actually received her masters at Cornell, so she has been to the states before.

The consulate received her detailed resume and sent another blue slip indicating that the case requires additional processing...I guess it's AP time. I was hoping we would skip that but it seems that lately, from my research, that a lot of people with technical backgrounds or scientific degrees are getting AP from the consulate. Sigh, here comes the dreaded wait of AP.

At this stage, call DoS Hotline every 2 or 3 days, ask for case status, ask specifically if the case is in AP or no.

Later, should hear something about 'call in letter sent' - is good timetick to make another trip to GUZ IV, get that stamp in the passport.

Hang in there !

Thanks for the reply Darnell, what do you mean by stamp in the passport? Did you mean that's what my wife will do after receiving call-in letter? Yeah, hopefully after AP, she receives a call-in letter so she can go get her visa.

yay ! The call in letter contains which days of the week to go, which hours to show up, is fairly 'loose' on exact calendar date.
