Do they give deadlines for info to be back?

Most people want to speed up the process, but we want to slow it down (maybe). We are both living overseas, so will do DCF. I have read other experiences and it seems DCF in Australia is relatively quick. We do not want to move until end of July/start of Aug 2012 and do not want to sell our house/quit our jobs until that time.

So once the I-130 is approved do they give you a deadline of when everything else has to be sent back to them? We don't want his visa approved too soon, because he will then have to go there sooner than planned.

thanks in advance!

DCF is no longer happening after August 14th 2011.

I don't see a USCIS office in Australia on the list so you may not have the option to DCF.

Spousal visa petitions take around a year to be approved from beginning to end. You may want to look into this.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Thanks. I'm aware that Sydney is stopping DCF as of Aug 15. Today I emailed them to make an appointment to lodge the I-130 there. I assume they will either let me do this before Aug 14 or tell me I need to send it to Chicago.

Does anyone know what it will mean for couples liek us: already married and both (legally) living outside USA? Will we still attend and interview in Sydney, or will my husband have to travel to USA and adjust his status or something weird?

cheers

No, filing the spousal visa would be the same way as if the USC was living in the US. You mail the petition to the lockbox in the USA, the non-USC has the medical and interview in the home country and then gets the visa and enters the US. It wont be fast like DCF would be.
