what does standard review for AP mean?

i called DOS today to see if we had any updates to our case and of cos we are still pending but the girl said that we were in standard review....now i know from reading there are many kinfd of ap and the term is used as a blanket acroww the board term but since this is the third time ive gotten this kind of info and more specifically today this term of standard review...does this mean we can hesitantly hope that his name didnt get any hits and that we are in a basic procedural ap and not the horro stories of a year long in depth process?....

Can you specify what kind of supporting documentation they requested? If police certificate or similar thing - probably no more than 3 weeks. Depends.

they wanted me to verify my son reached majority in NC, he doesnt live with me and i dont claim on taxes so that they can approve my i-864 for me my girls and husband. They have had those docs since june 23rd. that was easy to verify and we send supporting docs to prove this.

I do not anticipate more than 3-4 weeks. Just stay close to Embassy and bug them periodically.

lol thats easier said than done islamabad has a few hrs per day to call but its so hard to get thru bcos evbody else is also calling.

Is it me only or does it sound positive to you our ap could be finished in another two months or so? Im hoping to be with him by our anniversary

It sounds pretty straight forward to me. Another person just had one and it was solved in 3 weeks. There is a difference between the ones that just happen because of unknown reason (usually turn into horror) and the ones that just missing documentation that was provided)

well we knew ap would happen bcos hes from pakistan but i also know that not every male has a year or two worth of ap...i guess they do the basic check first and if anything questionable comes up then they go in depth which is what takes so long??

they also kept his passport at the interview and told him min. Of 45 days in AP...giving him pink token to obtain visa from amex when it was issued.

Actually, I think if it takes more than 2 months there is something seriously wrong. I never heard of anyone waiting for more than 3 months and not getting their petition returned to USCIS/NVC. In your case I cannot see more than 3-5 weeks. Just give it a time.

well... in pakistan it always takes an average of about 3-4 months even if there is nothing wrong with the case very few men get the visa directly after interview or within a month ... but you always read about the ones that have the bad issues instead of the success stories of those getting visa within a couple of months so thats why im asking this about standard review..

You need to stop reading horror stories.. There are a plenty of those here and they may drive you completely nuts while there is nothing you can do in the meantime.

you are so right and the positives of our case is that they wanted either joint sponsor or validation of our household which we sent... they kept passport...said mandatory ap for at least 45 days (altho we know it could be longer) and each time i check in with DOS they always mention some kind of basic or standard review then visa can be issued but nothing about those in depth background checks...altho its always a possibility due to the area my husband is from. But it still looks positive that maybe another month we will hear something... the first time I talked with DOS they said all they need is the documents and then review them for visa... so im just praying that once the embassy reviews the info they can complete our case and let DOS know...

I don't think there is much difference between AP or AR, my wife called yesterday and DOS gave her same answer, Case is still on administrative processing, eventually it’s going to be end one day INSHA ALLAH, I pray May Allah SWT make it easy for us, so we all can reunited with our love ones Ameen,

Inshallah...it will end one day...i just wish it wasnt so difficult for us ...i understand y they do this but at the same time i wish they could figure a better system of checks that wont keep ppl in ap for so long...
