Has anyone listening asked for pickup of their visa instead of delivery by courier? If so how long did it take and do you think the final visa print was done at the embassy and not the NVC?

YES, i had my interview july 5. approved on site. i picked up my visa at a 2GO branch near my home on july 13 ( it became available for pick up that day) after so many phone calls to them. when i received and inspected my packet, it was stamped and released july 8.....go figure, it took 5 days to travel from point A to point B, but it was worth it!! oh yeah i had to call the embassy to get my tracking number..yes, visa came from the embassy.

I've read you can ask the consul to have it held at the embassy. The reason for this is my lady is in Davao and staying in Manila for embassy pickup my take less time to get it. I will be going with her and I think I want to ask for embassy pickup

Please post whether you were allowed to pick up your visa at the Embassy. A few months ago, I read here on VJ that the Embassy no longer allows for Embassy pick up.

Update from what I have found the best case is to not go against the system and have 2go deliver it. I believe pickup at central 2go office in Pasay is quickest. I got no firm answer from anyone including the email question I sent to the Embassy. I think I will have it held at Pasay and we will fly up from Davao when its there. That costs more but if we have the 1st part of the CFO done we need only go back and get a sticker then we can fly out that week.

Did you ask the consular officer during the interview if you could pick up the visa at the Embassy? If, so, what was the consular officer's response?

Our interview is Sept 23rd. I was told you your request for pick up must be "meritorious" and the decision is made by the Consul. The only "meritorious" reason I could have in my case is that I traveled from the States to accompany her on the interview and have to return to work soon. Wether this is deemed meritorious or not I do not know. I plan to ask provided the interview goes well and I am allowed in on the interview at some point. I will update this thread as soon as we have our interview.

Our interview was today and asking for pickup wasn't an option I could ask for in our case. The interview went well and while we were not informed of approval we were told by the consul "there was something to fix on their side of the paperwork before the visa could be issued". So we got sent to window 73 to be informed we were under Administrative Review. The form had all requirements crossed out so we needed to supply nothing additional. The fact that they kept all the paperwork and my fiance's passport means it is surely approved. The bad news is I have read where this can take 3-4 weeks to get it shipped out. Sadly I cant stay that long so I will most likely be traveling home alone
