Anybody know how long the average wait has been this summer for a visa interview at Bangkok after NVC sends the paperwork over? We're getting close. I'll have to start surfing for plane tickets.

My case is DCF, I sent my package 3 to US Embassy 2 and half weeks ago, still no sign. I also sent e-mail to the IV today asking about the waiting time.. here is what they said.

"The Immigrant Visa Unit of the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok received the returned Packet 3 documents from you through the mail on June 27, 2011. Your case is now awaiting for an interview appointment. Due to the large volume of applicant, an interview appointment can be scheduled for you in about 8-10 weeks later. We will be in touch with you by mail and email when the interview appointment is scheduled for you."

8-10 weeks huh? We sent in Packet 3 one week ago. I was hoping it we would get something fairly soon about an interview but I guess not.

I received an e-mail today, the interview date is 12 September! It took 11 weeks since they got my package, so long.

But one strange thing the name of the applicant in the e-mail is mine but the case number is not, just sent e-mail to IV unit to verify the information, wish I could get the sooner interview appointment.

Wish you don't have to wait for too long Wiscoman.

The wait you are all experiancing is common especially for this time of year. BKK deals with about 700 cases per month. In the summer they have many student visas for example. I have seen 200 students lined up out side the embassy at times. Immigration based visas are only done on Monday & Wednesday which causes the delay through out the year.

Thanks for more information ka Pii Ning :) Now I just hope they didn't mix up my appointment with someone else ka, still a little bit worried about the wrong case number.

Yes I would be concerned too. I know you sent the email but if you dont get a responce that clears it up I would have your fiancee buy the special pin number at a post office that allows X amount of calls directly inside to talk them. This may be simple problem or it could lead to something more serious.

In my own case my husband figured out they had made a mistake similar to this. He was able to get the attention of the embassy to correct it. In our case they were very helpful by not only admitting their mistake but corrected it by allowing us to choose any date we wanted to be interviewed on. My case in total took 408 days so we didnt have an easy time of it at any point.

Oh, okay ka. I will definitely do what you suggested if not hear from them by Wednesday. Finger crossed for nothing serious (but also deeply hope they will let us pick the date like yours ka :content:).

Thanks again for coming back to give more advice na ka, they are really helpful :thumbs:

IV unit has confirmed the interview date on 12 September, other case number was just a mistake.

Wish everyone luck (also myself :))

I've still got my fingers crossed for September. Maybe the DCFs are scheduled separately from stateside. Should fins out this week.

Finally got the appointment, Sept 29. Now the question is how long after the interview to pick up the visa. Depite what the embassy says, I've got to make plane reservations.

I'm going over to accompany my wife. Anybody else there on the 29th? I hear USC spouses aren't allowed in the consulate (odd), so it may be a long morning at the Starbucks down the street.
