Hi...I recently sent my I-129f patition off and have 1 major concern about 3 convictions. 2 simple possesions of marijuana and 1 open container charge. 1 of my simple possesions was when I was 17years old and is no longer on my record. The 2nd simple possesion I was 20years old and it was a traffic ticket with no arrest. My open container charge was stupid on my part and did get arrested wich was when I was 21 years old. I'm now 32 years old. Does anybody know if we are going to get denied application due to my criminal record? I have not been in trouble with the law since.

I presume you are the US citizen, correct? If so, this is not a problem. Answer any questions honestly and make sure your fiancee knows about it in case she is asked at the interview. No big deal.

Just be honest and you should be fine and the one from when you are 17 be honest with it too. Homeland can find out what you did back in preschool if they need to.

Yes I am us citizen. I was honest with everything and even sent original copies of disposition of crimes involved. Thanks for the coment

The crimes that would affect the petition, for a US citizen would be ones of violence against women or children, sexual crimes, etc. They cannot revoke your citizenship and you are not applying for a visa. In your case they are looking for crimes which could endanger in your future wife, not the US public in general. We are stuck with whatever citizens we have in any case.

As for the foreign person, they are much more strict. Drug possession or use will cause a denial.
