Administrative processing for dv applicant

I am a DV winner 2011. Principal applicant for DV lottery I am from Nigeria but i reside in United Arab Emirate.

And i went for interview with my spouse and 2 kids the interview was ok, but the counselor said he will like to verify my spouse birth certificate because my spouse was born during the war in my country and has no birth certificate. We went for interview with Court Affidavit then somebody told us that we need to submit Age Declaration in place of his birth certificate from National population commission in our country, then we moved immediately and got it and submitted it to the us embassy where we had our interview and they wrote me to inform me that they got the additional document that I submitted. They gave me blue sheet and put us under administrative processing and ask us to check their website. The interview was ending of December 2010, but up till now there are no updates in their website. In such case will my spouse birth certificate be a problem? And will affect my own visa as the principal applicant that has no issue with any document? Can they issue Visa to me, my spouse and our 2 kids or will it be only myself and our 2 kids.

Again for the checking of my case status, i was checking it at the immigrant visa case status because there was no provision for the case status check for DV Visa. I hope i did not make mistake by that?

Please i will be very grateful if you can reply me and clear me regarding this issue.

Thank you and God bless.

Nigerian men , especially those from the north , frequently get AP from their interviews. But if your spouses birth certificate is not available because they were bron during the Biafrian war then that could take a bit to clear. Usually AP from Nigeria takes 6 months to a year.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

The usual method of getting a birth certificate under that situation is swearing to affidavit indicating when she was born, the names of her parents, stating why a birth certificate was not issued. Then you take this affidavit to National Population Commission where you are issued to whom it may concern. US Consulate usually accepts this without any problem or AP. Then you must get these facts clear. Visas can never be granted to you the principal applicant if your wife is not granted. Though in this case i dont see any reason why she would not be granted. Then take note that for 2011 winners VISA MUST BE ISSUED BY 12AM MIDNIGHT ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2011! No dv visas will be issued after that. And cases can never be revived under any situation beyond that date and time. I hope this is helpful.
