Ok, So Sashella has her interview on the 18th. I sent her the package of everything she needs on June 5th and she still does not have it. Last mail i sent her took 2.5 weeks to reach her.. it has been 1 month already and nothing. Why is Jamaica so slow with everything?

She had her medical yesterday, and she has to pick it up on the 15th. cutting it close. She also needs her police record and I was told that she can do it in Montego Bay instead of going all the way to Kingston. She was going to do it yesterday but when she went there they told her they are only open on Tuesday and Wednesday. Oh and it took her 3 weeks to get packet 4 from the embassy after they mailed it. 3 weeks from Kingston to Negril? all I can say is I will be very happy when this is all over.

oh mayn! u sould have fedexed it! much more reliable and would have saved all this worry...i hope its not lost and she gets it soon...

also u should have her call the place in montego bay and find out info before going again becos they also do police record at the savannalanmar police station but not for immigration purposes.if for immigration they say u have to go to kingston so i dont know if its like that for mobay so try calling and finding out asap...

I really wish I did FedEx it now.

I called the MNS in Kingston and they told me she can do it in MoBay, but they could not tell me where.(I did tell them it was for traveling) I called 3 different police stations in Mobay and they all told me that she can do it there, but it is at some place on Sunset Blvd. but nobody could give me the phone number. When she went there yesterday they told her to come back on Tuesday or Wednesday. I asked her to get the number and make sure she can do it there, but she did not get the number.

The funny thing is a couple weeks ago she went to Kingston to get her passport, because she finally got her ID. She got it overnight, but they did not let her pick it up till 3:00pm the following day, and the police record office closed at 2:30 on Friday. So she could not get her police record.

you should have fedex it, i highly doubt she will get it b4 her interview, she can only do the fingerprints done in mobay and she will have to come to kingston for the report, if she has relatives in kingstton i would advise her to come to kinston and do the whole process, she will need her passport and two passport pictures, she can pay $2000 at any ttax office for express service which takes 5 days, i just collected mine last week. plz fedex the papers back to her, my packet 3 was sent june 1st and packet 4 june 8 and i still have

nt recieved any of them, if she does'nt have have her interview letter she can emeil them at the consularkingst@state.gov sit and ask them very politely to send her a copy via email. thats what i did.

Even if i FedEx it now, will it get there in time? Also I don't have all of the pictures, evidence and a couple other things. I should have made copies of everything but I assumed she would have gotten the mail cause she got my other ones.

So sorry you are ust getting the feel of the slow Jamaica system. Unfortunately, the mailing process seems to work when its ready. I've received documents from my SO in 2 weeks and then some things have never reached.

If you are able to send her the documents by FedEx/UPS/DHL then get it in there asap and she will receive it in time. Remember you will also be able to track it!

As for the phone records, I learned just recently that i can be completed at a few offices across the island. I do not, however, know the pick up resrictions. If you call the main office in Kingston they should be able to tell you (at least I hope).

Update Regarding Obtaining A Jamaica Police Record

Posted by news on April 2, 2011 , 5 Comments

As efforts continue to improve the level of service to the public in the provision of police records, effective April 1, 2011, the public may go to any of the thirty offices of the Inland Revenue Department, to pay the fees required to obtain police records.

In addition to 34 Duke Street in Kingston, persons may go with their receipts to the police stations at Summit in St. James, May Pen in Clarendon and Pompano Bay in St. Mary to have their fingerprints taken.

Thank you everyone for the help and information. I will try and get everything together again to send out to her FedEx. I just can't believe the postal service can't deliver mail properly. This is all so stressful.

She is in MoBay right now getting her police record. She did everything there and it has taken her only about 2 hours. They say she can pick it up in 5 days.

So We're good on everything. I will just have to send out a new package with FedEx and we should be ok.

Thank you mo.. she is getting upset cause someone told her that I have to be there with her for the interview. But I'm trying to explain that I can't even go into the embassy with her. not only that but when/if she is approved i will have to fly out there to pick her n the kids up (she does not want to fly alone).
