Hello everyone!

Just checking if anyone has any information they can share...

My fiance and I are scheduled for our K1 visa interview next week on July 8th. This morning we received the following confirmation email from the embassy in Rio de Janeiro, stating that our interview is scheduled for the following week on July 12th. There was no mention of the date being changed. Can the embassy change the date of our interview with only a few days notice? We have already purchased our flights for the interview, and it will be expensive to change. Is there some way we can fight to keep our original interview date, July 8th?

Of course I want to ask the embassy these questions directly, but they only accept calls from 2-3pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday...and it will take them a day or so until they respond to my email. It doesn't help that the embassy will be closed on Monday for July 4th, and we are scheduled to fly to Rio de Janeiro on July 5th! We don't have a lot of time to make changes to our flight if necessary.

Has this happened to any of you? I appreciate any information or tips that you may have!!

Have you already emailed them? If not, I would right away. Did you receive a letter in the mail with your interview date? If you have that letter and it says the 8th, I would go to that interview. It was most likely an error in the email, and you don't want to miss your interview if they are expecting you on the 8th. I would take the letter and show it at the entrance. I have no experience with this, but I know here in the US some people who didn't show up for the interview because they thought it had been changed had problems later. They are usually pretty quick to respond to emails at the embassy. In my opinion, keep your flights and go on the 8th. If you have to be there on the 12th as the email stated, then extend your stay in Rio which will be easier than cancelling your flights now and then trying to rebook when they tell you the date has not been changed. Good luck to you!
