Hi All,

This is what my 2010 Tax Return Reads:

FORM 1040 – Page 1

22. total income: 52,432

37. adjusted gross income : 52,432

FORM 1040 – Page 2

43. Taxable income : 6,748

The difference between lines 37 and 43 is due to losses on SCHEDULE E - Supplemental Income and Loss (From rental real estate, royalties, partnerships, S corporations, estates, trusts, REMICs, etc.).

I have put line 32 (same as 22) on the I-864 form.

I had sent page one of my tax return to NVC. But now that my file is at the embassy. Embassy wants "Full Copy" of the tax return. Why is that?

Which line will they be looking at to decide whether I meet the income threshold or not?

Line 22, and you didn't read the instructions very closely--they say to send the ENTIRE tax return plus any supporting documents like W-2's, 1099's and so forth OR a transcript from the IRS which does NOT require any supporting documents--getting the transcript is completely painless and quick--you can even go to an IRS office and get it on the spot, so why folks continue to use the more cumbersome tax returns and every scrap of paper makes little sense.

Not picking on you Some--just trying to educate others who read this thread.

Yes, the instructions state your complete tax return, plus all supporting documents, schedules, etc. Or the preferred IRS transcript. A single page of the return only is not sufficient.

That's interesting how come the NVC didn't complain about it?

Who knows? The embassy/consulate is where the decision is made. Give them what the instructions indicate and the process can be completed.
