So I received my NOA2 hard copy about a week ago, and it says on the NOA2 that the petition was sent directly to the consulate, which in my case would be the Embassy in the Philippines. Everything I have read before said it will go to the NVC first, however when I called them today, they said they do not have it and it was sent directly to the consulate. Is this normal? And who do I contact to see if its at the embasy.

Congratulations! The NVC person on you talked to said it was sent directly to the consulate?

Did you tell the person your letter said it was directly sent to the consulate first and then that prompted the person to say it was sent to the consulate? Because how would they know it was sent there if they have no record of it?

It takes one or two weeks just to get to NVC, I suggest you call them a few days later and the new person may have a better clue.

Good luck!

by the way, hows it possible that its directly sent to the embassy when you do not have your MNL case number yet?...coz if youre going to follow up your case at the embassy they will ask for your MNL number... anyway, just then try to inquire and tell the situation of your case... goodluck

yes, i agree, its supposed to be like that, and that`s what i did too....but his case is different, he was told on his NOA2 that his case is directly forwarded to the embassy which supposed to be at the NVC first then the NVC will forward it to the emabassy with the MANILA case number...he got a short cut, thats why when called NVC he was told that they dont have his case... or maybe what is written on the NOA2 was just a mistake cos instead of saying forwarded to NVC they wrote embassy...or he`s just having a different route... best thing is to contact NVC and embassy to track the case...

Nothing goes straight to the Embassy or Consulate from USCIS.

In the case of a K visa, the NVC is nothing more than a mail stop. They received the file from USCIS, assign it a case number, and ship it to the appropriate Embassy or Consulate.

If that's the case the NVC will write you again and give you case number that starts with 3 letters MNLxxxxxxxxxx we received our NAO2 2 weeks ago and then received a letter from the NVC 2 days ago they said I will receive a packet soon with instructions on how to apply for the K1 visa at that post and what documents will be required..relax and everything will be alright..
