You need 3 things at Juarez

1-Medical appointment (you do not need appointment/cita...just walk in but go early (deberia ir muy temprano)

2-ASC, this is quick 15 minute appointment to get fingerprints, you NEED appointment for this

3-Interview/entrevista...you NEED appointment time

When you have the invitation letter (they call it packet 3 but it is just a letter) then you or your fiancee in USA can pay for your interview & schedule the appointments in Juarez.

If you want to stay at La Quinta Hotel you can get a discount by using this code HOMEDL it will save $20 per night. This is a good hotel because they have a free shuttle service to drive you to all appointments, or to shop or get food or anything. All the rooms have refrigerator y microwave in the room so you can save money. Also they have internet, printers, swimming pool etc.

I understand it is not fun to go to Juarez but don't worry it will be ok.

so the ASC appointment its to get you medical exam?

No, the ASC is basically when they take your fingerprints and other such things. Like someone else already said, when you call to schedule the appointment for the interview, they will schedule an ASC appointment as well. It MUST be done BEFORE the interview.

So...

1) Medical visit - it's a walk-in, no appointment necessary

2) ASC - taking fingerprints, etc. - appointment is necessary before interview date

2) interview - appointment necessary

You should take one day for each.

And yes, having to go through Juarez is not the greatest news, but there is no way around it, I called up government officals on this and there's nothing they can change about it. And it is a similar problem in other countries, not just Mexico. In some places it's even worse because there isn't even a consulate in their country at all and they have to find a way to get over to a different country for the interview, which makes for even more problems, as you can imagine.

Just keep reading up as much as you can on Juarez on this website. Go to its country portal, read the reviews on it, find my posts and read all the questions I've just recently been asking myself. Piece by piece you'll figure it all out. :)

Feel free to ask me questions.

Not to sound harsh, but if travelling for the interview at the consulate is going to be a big financial burden, you guys may be starting behind the 8 ball so to speak when you get here. Since you are a K-1 you won't be able to work here either and there are fees for the remaining steps of the process and the extra costs of living in the US. Financial problems can have a big impact on relationships.

As your fiancee is in the military, it may be a good idea for him to take advantage of some of the financial planning services that the military offers so that the two of you can plan out how to meet these expenses and to plan for the additional costs of supporting a family on his salary. I would really encourage you two to look in to these and some of the other programs that the military offers that might help with the adjustment and getting on your feet when you get here. Never too early to plan for these things.
