hello, usually it taskes 5 to 6 months before they will give you the approval which is the NOA2, this depends on the officer who will handle your application, some people here in visa journey receives their approval in less than 3 or 4 months .....the one that you received from the text messages is an acknowledgement that they receive your application and will review it, and that is the NOA1. For sure you will have an email from them about this receipt.

I would suggest that you do your timeline here in visa journey for they will give you an idea to when is your application be adjudicated, here you will see as to when is your approval will possibly arrive.

Also there is a site in USCIS wherein you can check your Case Status, as to where is your paper now.... all you need to do is to get the Case Status Number which will be provided once you receive the copy of your Receipt, it starts with 3 letters and the rest are numbers.. http://www.uscis.gov/.

If your paper doesnt have any problem and you submit the complete requirements possibly you will not be required to have a Request for Evidence (or RFE).

God bless you

Was your check cashed? If so your case number can be found at the back starting with 3 letters, e.g WAC-11-123-45678 add 1 to the last digit (WAC-11-123-45679)then log on to USCIS website to track the status.

Citizenship next step!

its over 3 weeks since we sent our l 130 form to usics but we have not received NOA letter yet but we got an sms dat our application has been received.i want to know if the sms we received wil act like the NOA or we will stil receive it

Patience is virtue with visa process! Kick back and relax and be patient  you are at the beginning of the road, and the road ahead will require time.

Your application will take some time, as suggested if your check was cashed? then look behind it and get your case number and check it periodically on USCIS site.

Good luck!
