My fiancé has heard from many people in Mexico that if you do not use your new visa right away (in our case, a K-1) as soon as you get it from the consulate in Juarez, and don't cross the border as soon as you get it, it may cause problems later due to your delays. Is there any truth to this? Anyone with experience here, please let us know. Thanks a lot.

Her plan was to go back home to Monterrey and wait about 3 or 4 weeks while she packs and makes final plans for our wedding, then fly to the US from Monterrey.

The visa is good for 6 months from the date of issue unless there is some over-riding factor that caused the CO to reduce the length of time.. not common... waiting a few weeks will have no effect on the process once he is here
