Ok, so here is whats new. (vent begin)

DOS Visa Specialist has our interview date in their system with no result and it says Administrative Processing.

The Consulate has our interview date in their system also with no result but they say we are NOT in AP.

Both of them ask what happened in our interview what color card we received, if we received any additional paperwork

and we proceed to tell them we were told we were approved, no additional paperwork was given, only a green card and sent to pay Domex.

They say that their system wont tell them anything until the visa has been printed which seems really retarded to me. So as of now there are only 3 people on this planet and only 1 in the US gov that know we were approved? Me, Mariel, and the woman who interviewed us who didn't seem to know what she was doing? First of all i dont believe this is true, i believe (because it seems like a more logical and efficient way to run a system processing visas) that if you are approved they will say you are approved in the system and then you will get your visa date in the system after its printed. This way everyone can see its approved. Any joe shmoe who looks up our case would be able to see, oh you are approved and we are waiting for it to be printed. But at this poin no one can tell us what is going on, they just ask us questions and it sounds like they are just telling us what we want to hear, when we want to know where is her passport? Why has it taken this long when other people get their visas in 3 days?

Well every case is different. That is true. I can clearly see that every case is different when i see couples like Aztec and Taino (no offense to any of the other couples i mention, my frustration isn't with you, its with the differences in how our cases are processed) who sent their petition 3 days before us on the 23 of august 2010 (us the 26th) they got the petition approved on january 24th 2011 and we didnt get our request for evidence until frebruary 9th, and then waited till march 3rd for our petition approval. Aztec and Tainos interview date? March 9th 44 days after their petition approval, us? We had our interview scheduled May 31st, 89 days after our approval. They got their visa in hand in 5 days after their interview, we are still waiting for it to be printed. Aztec and Tainos total 199 days from petition sent till visa in hand. Us, 284 days and counting. So yes, we did have a request for evidence, but other than that, why are our cases processed SO entirely different? How does this make sense? What possibly could make Aztec and Tainos case so different that they get the entire thing so smooth and are done in over 100 days less than us? What makes us so unlucky that every step of the way we have the longest durations on visa journey for any 2010 Dominican republic case.

What about Vlad and Tasha? (again im not frustrated with you guys, just how we are so unlucky and other people arnt) Vlad and Tasha during their interview were sent to window 11 and got their visa in 7 days after their interview. So what makes them different? Do people who pass window 11 get their visas faster? I wish we were sent to window 11 then.

Basically i don't believe any of this every case is different nonsense. I think its just the immigration systems way of telling us oh its completely random, we are unorganized, don't know how to communicate to each other, and most of the time don't even know where your stuff is. (vent conclude)

So my question to all you is this; during the time you were waiting for your visas in hand, did you call the embassy and/or the visa specialist? if so what did they tell you? If they read you guys were approved then i don't know what im going to do, call up obama or something to kick some butt in the DR consulate.

Sounds like your visa is caught up in some administrative limbo. At this point I would suggest contacting your senator and getting their immigration people involved. Someone dropped the ball somewhere and the Senators liaison can get it rolling again for you. Other than that, you can call the DOS hotline again and see what they can tell you. Be politely insistent. The DOS should be able to follow up with the consulate to find out what is going on. If the main person on the phone can't or won't give you answers, politely insist on speaking with a supervisor.

I don't think I analyzed my own case as carefully as you have... What can I say? I am sorry you guys have had to wait as long? Yet, the RFE does always cost time in the process. We did not have any RFEs. My suggestion would be to make some NOISE! Call the visa specialist, call the Embassy, call your representative, call, call, call! The noisy bird gets the worm...

Good luck and hope your fiance gets his visa soon!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

its not your fault, i was just saying whats so different about our cases. They were petitioned only 3 days apart and for some reason ours is never ending. We have the worst luck or something and im just sick of hearing the exuse every case is different from all the immigration people. We just want to know whats going on with the case. Mare is on the phone with the visa s pecialist right now and shes going to ask to talk to a supervisor and ask them to get in touch with the consulate to see wth is going on with our case.

so we are now being asked to wait up 4 months for administrative processing, when again, the consulate says we arent in AP. This nightmare will seriously never end. I also love how there is no direct number to contact the consulate. I want to talk to someone who can actually do something and look at our hardcopy case file, not someone who punches numbers into the computer and looks at three lines of information. Is there any way anyone knows how to speed this process up? This is the hardest and worst process ive ever been through. Do they have any idea what its like being forced to be away from you significant other for this long? over 9 months and they want another 4?!?!?! are you kidding me! what did we ever do to deserve this.

AP in the consulate can take months but if they say you are not in AP (I do not understand  ) then maybe they're doing some kind of additional review and it won't take that long to get your visa? IDK, it is a random "process" and it makes no sense at all. But the CO said you were approved, so keep calling, keep asking for explanations and updates. Some people end up paying for THEIR mistakes because they sit and wait around. Call, complaint, talk!!!

And good luck!

We've been calling the visa specialist and the embassy all day and I just talked to a visa specialist and they told me it wont show we were approved until the visa is issued and we might be in additional review but not AP. It's amazing how you can call the visa specialist 3 times in the same day and get 3 completely different answers :bonk:

Absolutely get your senator involved. I tend to agree with you that it's simply a disorganzied mess. I've worked with the federal government as a contractor and that's what I've generally seen. No one you talk to at NVC seems to care because they have no power to do anything. The only way to get to a person who might know what's going on is through your congressman or senator.

I am new to this forum but would like to share my experience which is somewhat similar I need HELP !!!! MY interview with my fiance was on July 27, 2011

Make a long story short we were approved we have been together since 2002 we have 9 years together and I have since finished college and am a school teacher.

My father and his father grew up together and I stay for months at a time at our home in the Dominican Republic we are truly in love !! The consular told me you are approved BUT the petition will expire soon. I began to cry and my fiance was calming me down while all the people were staring at me at the window. She told us that we would have to file once again for the petition, I said WHAT??? isnt there anything you can do. She turned the mic off and asked two supervisors and they spoke. She told me ok I can give it to you but you have to wait under ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING, she kept his passport and gave us the ticket to pay DOMEX but its been 2 weeks and nothing has happend the petition expired August 6. how is it my fault ??? the interview they gave it to us late.... I dont understand, I call and called the 7 dollars for the pin and they told me to call back in OCTOBER!!!!!???!!! I started to cry what is going on??? I just found out i am PREGNANT and I want to be with him as soon as possible at least before the summer ends. I did everything I paid so much money to get my papers filled out everything right and I still have to go through this??? Please help has anyone else been through this.... She was gonna fill out a green slip and give it to me but she said OH you dont even need this go pay! We are going to do Administrative processing.... please help!
