This question is for a friend who is preparing for the visa interview in Brasil. He lived in Canada for more than 6 months after the age of 16 and will require a police certificate for the interview. He currently lives in Brasil. What is the procedure for obtaining the police certificate? On another immigration site, I saw information stating that a fingerprint record is not necessary. However, the RCMP site seems to indicate otherwise. It appears that if the fingerprint record is necessary, it will delay his process about 4 months. Can any of the Canadians here advise the best way to proceed since he is no longer in Canada. Is he able to make a request by internet or fax? Is the fingerprint record really necessary? In Brasil, simply providing some information is sufficient as long as no crimes have been committed. He has a clean criminal record both in Brasil and in Canada. Thank-you so much for your help.
