First of all, No he can not sit in with you. Second, why would you want to subject your man to that? Its an all day process and the whole idea is to find out what you know about him and establish a real relationship. Also they will inform you of your rights as well. You must know him and the answers to their questions. This seminar is required for travel abroad a well as application for a passport in your married name. You may take this seminar before you visa interview, I personally would recommend it. One less thing to do when your Visa is approved. Bare in mind you will have to go to DFA with your visa and CFO Certificate with your passport to get a stamp in it for travel abroard. Good Luck.

No, it doesn't mean I want to subject my fiance' to that, I just dont want to be separated with him for a whole day during his visit here next month.lol. He will be deploying soon, so I want to spend more time with him as much as possible but then I also want to be proactive that's why I would like to have it done while in Manila and/or Cebu next month. DFA???? Do you mean go back to CFO office with my visa and CFO certificate so they can affix the sticker on it or what they called "CFO sticker"??? Was it just a typo of you when you mentioned DFA??

Wrong.

DFA issues the passport not the CFO sticker. CFO issues the sticker for the passport.

Not a typo.......DFA issues the sticker for your passport after your Visa is approved.

I'm sorry but this seems weird... How come DFA will be the one to issue the "CFO STICKER" since the seminar will be given/organized by the CFO??? Have you done that before??..

I looked on the CFO website and it says...

"As Filipinos going abroad as fiancé(e)s, spouses or other partners of foreign nationals, you are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling session in order to secure the Guidance and Counseling Certificate (GCC) and the CFO sticker. You need this certificate to renew or apply for a new passport at the Department of Foreign Affairs (per Department of Foreign Affairs Order Nos. 11-97 Implementing Rules and Regulations for Republic Act 8239, "Philippine Passport Act" and 28-94)"

"You may avail of the Guidance and Counseling Session even while you are still processing or waiting for your visa. If such is the case, you will only be issued the GCC. Once your visa is released, you will return to CFO to continue with your registration. The CFO sticker will then be affixed on your passport"

The certificate is only presented at "DFA" IF you are going to RENEW or APPLY for a new Phil. passport.

Anyway, thanks for your effort to make a reply on my post. :)

hehe, yes I expect questions on my application. Just on e of those things. As for technology, do not underestimate the Philippines. After all, supposedly the world wide "love bug virus" was launched from Philippines. They may not do debit at restaurants yet, but I never underestimate a country's technology level....And also, it was some word of mouth from Customs officials after commenting how things had changaed from february to today at Butuan and Manila terminal 2 airports including mention the lack of A/C at manila terminal 2.

Here's the real deal ... I went to the CFO office ... aka Prism ... on Taft ave this past Friday with my fiance. She's 18, I'm 42, and I was married to a Filipina before who attended the same CFO 7 years ago. We had no issues. They asked Rain if she knew the name of my ex .. She of course did. The CFO rep showed her the registration card filled out by my ex 7 years ago .. thought that was a bit of a twilight zone moment ... they didn't even ask for pictures of us, just the required docs (divorce decree, etc.) I hung out downstairs with about 10 armed guards from the BDO next door .. love those shotguns they wear. All was good in about 2 1/2 hours. Everyone was very nice and not once did I feel uncomfortable. That should give you an idea of how to gauge your own situation. Best of luck to everyone.
