I've got to ask about this one final time (since this is my last chance) and I think it is pretty simple, but I just need a little feedback.

Got an RFE on my I-864 because I completely mis-read what was being asked for, not once, but twice. I think I finally get it now and it's a pretty minor mistake, but I has to be right when my wife presents it at the interview. So here it is.

When I filled out the I-864, I wanted to give them as much financial evidence as I could. In item 25 of the form, they ask this:

25. Federal income tax return information.

[]I have filed a Federal tax return for each of the three most recent tax years. I have attached the required photocopy or transcript of my Federal tax return for only the most recent tax year.

Tax Year Total Income

[](Optional) I have attached photocopies or transcripts of my Federal tax returns for my second and third most recent tax years.

I checked the optional part and provided tax transcripts for the last 3 (2007, 2008, 2009) as well as a complete copy of my 2010 tax returns since I'm self employed and that's the only way to show what my annual income is. I didn't check the top box or fill out the Tax Year/Total Income areas...I left those blank. I assumed the tax transcripts covered that.

I got second RFE that says:

'___________ income indicated on the I-864 Part 25 does not correspond to that shown on the most recent tax return and W-2(s).

My question is: Is the problem they are identifying the fact that I didn't fill out those blank Tax Year/Total income blanks and check the top box? Should those always be filled out?

Thank you for any light you can shed on this.

The second box is optional. But you should have checked the first (top) box and filled it out with the amounts for the last three years.

Thank you for the confirmation. That is what the RFE was about after all then. Cheers!
