Hiya,

I believe my fiance is going to call next week to schedule it....we are waiting because he hasnt received his police report...but we expect it to come next week.

All you need to schedule your medical is your police certificate and the LND case number and it can be scheduled whenever you want but needs to be done before they will schedule your interview! Hope this helps

You can definitely call them to ask, but the line is often busy. When we did that, they said they were scheduling something like four weeks out, but I don't think you really have to wait that long. You can also cancel an appointment without a penalty if you give them three clear days' notice, so I would go ahead and schedule the medical for a day that you think you'll have the police certificate by, but if he doesn't have it by four days before the appointment, call to reschedule.

Im so freaking confused. My fiance has not had ANY shots his whole life even when he was a baby...so he went to his GP and is now getting all the required shots that a normal person is supposed to have throughout their childhood and adult.

I think there is a form we are supposed to get from the London docs that we use for AOS? Will they even give that to him knowing he hasnt had any immunizations.

He did get some...but ones that he was supposed to get from a baby. Not age specific ones.

Is there someone I can call to ask about this? Not a lawyer?

I am so confused.

Check out this page for information about the medical. It says that "K visa applicants will not be required to meet the vaccination requirements at the time of the visa interview. They will, however, be required to meet the requirements at the time they apply for an adjustment of status with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services."

If I were you though, I would go ahead and have your fiance get the age-appropriate vaccinations done with his GP, as it will probably be much cheaper that way than doing them in the US (my husband got his done for free at his GP's office). Download the document at the top of the box on the right side of the page I linked called "Additional information concerning the medical examination including the forms the applicant is required to complete and present to the fiance physician on the day of the medical". On pages 7 and 8, it gives you a chart with all of the vaccinations, and your fiance only has to get the ones that say "Yes" under the appropriate age bracket. Basically if your fiance is over 18 and under 65, he only needs MMR and Tdap (Varicella is there too, but waived if the person has had chicken pox before – and anyway, it's not available in the UK). No need to go crazy with every vaccination under the sun!

Thanks everyone. This medical thing is stressing us out when it probably shouldnt.

The plan is that my fiance will go to his GP for more shots on June 13th. I told him to specifically ASK for the MMR, and Tdap (and if they want to give him more then good!), so we are going to schedule the interview for sometime after June 13th....so I think we are going to try and book it....maybe late next week?

After his medical he will continue getting the rest of his shots that he missed out on growing up.

I suppose when he gets here we will just have to have a civil surgeon verify the I-693 for us.
