Conflicting info from NVC and VJ concerning translation

So I just talked to someone at NVC again and she said that we don't need to translate any documents that are in English or in the language of the consulate (Hebrew or Arabic). I originally thought that this was only in the case of direct consular filing where the documents don't have to go through the US but she said just send them and the NVCs job is to forward to the consulate here once they've reviewed the IV packet.

Seems strange - how can they review the documents not in English? (there is only one - the military discharge form)

Any advice?

i just got a packet from the consulate that any documents I submit must be in EITHER English or the officail language of the country where my case is being processed.

Therefore I believe the NVC is right. On VJ everyone will be encouraging you to having it translated anyway... better safe than sorry! And those officers at the cosulate... they say that if they want to be picky they will find a reason to pick on...

Easiest way is to just contact the consulate--in our case San Jose Costa Rica and they confirmed no reason to translate Spanish documents.
