NVC AVR or Operator

Per the guides here, it's recommended that you call the Automated Voice Response system at NVC to see if they have received your case. Once the AVR says they have it, then you call the operator, speak with a live person, and start the ball rolling.

I thought that I read in another topic (which I can't find now) that once USCIS is done, they send your case to NVC, and it's better to speak with a live person. This is because they might have received your case but have not entered it into the AVR system yet.

Anybody know? What did you do?

I'm asking because if there's a way to trim days or even weeks from this process, I'm all for it.

It will take them about a week to receive your case from USCIS and a few days beyond that to actually "enter" it into their system and assign you a NVC case number. You can speak with an operator but until it's in their system they r not much help, so give it a week...I understand being anxious and wanting info NOW, I was the same way- I promise it will come

My timeline of events FYI:

USCIS approval 4/19/11

received NOA2 hardcopy 4/22/11

NVC received case 4/25/11

entered into system and assigned NVC case # 4/29/11

called to give operator our email addresses 5/2/11

received first email from NVC along with IIN 5/4/11

paid AOS fee online 5/4/11

My wife and two stepsons I 130's were approved on Apr 27th. I called yesterday to NVC, and the system told me they don't have my case yet. I called this morning and almost immediately, someone picked up the phone and told me they had the file already but that the info still was not in the system and call them back in a week...give it a try...It won't hurt, I think

Yes, I called NVC today and it appears their AVR system was down. The operator said they have not received my case yet.
