Was reading the news and saw this.. what you guys think? Does it mean we will be able to apply for citizenship after 3 years now instead of 5???

http://news.msn.com/us/from-immigrant-to-citizen-in-13-years-why-13-1

I don't think so. It says:

"Immigrants who can show that they were in the U.S. lawfully for 10 years will be eligible for naturalization after three years of permanent residency."

So, first you need to have stayed in the country for 10 years already. Second, that article seems to refer only to undocumented immigrants.

Well, that's just my take on it lol. It would be awesome if they reduced it to 3 years!

Hey Grace A,

It would deff be nice to shave off 2 years from the current process. I think that if they were to do that for the 11 million people having an illegal status then they would have to do it for everyone.

Fingers & Toes crossed

futher on it said "in the proposed immigration bill, "the actual path of citizenship went down from five years to three years, so it was a victory," Menendez's aide said.

It is getting closer to the end of FY 2013(September) and I am hoping that they move forward cut-off dates enough not to waste it and then later on give those visa numbers to other categories like they did last year when they gave 1,800 family visa numbers to employment based. I think you guys know what I am talking about.

I think that they will be finished with 2006 in early 2014 at the rate that they are currently going.
