South African K-1 Interviews...

Hi there,

I am just wanting to double check for myself and a few other fellow South Africans that I am in contact with.

I was under the impression that no matter where you live in South Africa, the K-1 Visa interviews are ALWAYS at the Johannesburg Consulate... Quite a few people have said they thought they could interview in Cape Town too, and one friend has the Durban Consulate written on their NOA2. I see also that there is only information on here for the Johannesburg Consulate, so I'm still thinking I'm correct in believing they only do the interviews in Johannesburg?

If Johannesburg is the only location that has an immigrant visa issuing post, then K1 interviews are only done there. Nowhere else. People would only interview in Cape Town for tourist or other types of non-immigrant visas. The only reason I can think of as to why someone's NOA2 would say Durban is they put that on the original I-129F, the NVC will ultimately route it to Johannesburg.

I originally thought it was only in JHB, but since others have asked me I have started to second guess myself... THat is why I am trying to find out if JHB IS the only K-1 visa issuing post now.

I will just call the consulates on Tuesday and find out that way.
